Great Miami River cleanup photo a national finalist

Logan County Solid Waste Management District Alan Hale took the photograph of Dan Branson volunteering during the annual Great Miami River cleanup in May.

Mr. Branson was paddling onto shore and Mr. Hale took the photograph while standing on the bridge on State Route 235 just south of DeGraff near Riverside High School.

American Rivers, a non-profit organization committed to clean and healthy natural rivers, stages the contest each year and groups participating in river sweeps nationwide submit photographs for consideration.

Finalists from other states include Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, Montana and Vermont.

An unlimited number of votes may be cast online at http://www.americanrivers.org/take-action/cleanup/contest/ through Friday.
