UPDATE: Teens injured when vehicle strikes tree

Ethan J. McBean, 16, of West Liberty, was transported by Macochee squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for non-incapacitating injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

Troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report he was operating a southwestbound car on State Route 245 near Township Road 47 about 5:30 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a turn in the road and went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Both Ethan and his passenger, Tren Thomas, 16, of St. Paris, were transported to the hospital.
Both occupants were wearing their seat belts, troopers report. Alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash.

Ethan was cited for failure to control.
