Fehrs’ son first of the New Year

Mary Rutan Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2013 on Wednesday when Alan Thomas Fehr was born at 5:38 p.m. to Kenneth and Maria Fehr of Belle Center.

He is the third child for the Amish couple.

He weighed seven pounds and one ounce and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Midwife Lisa Smithers oversaw the birth.

MRH has yet to compile the total number of births from 2012, but noted birth rates are down in keeping with national trends.
