Peter Stolly was elected as the 2013 chairman of the Lake Township board of trustees during a meeting this week, succeeding Byron Scott.
Jim Wish was chosen as vice chairman.
Monthly bills totaling $5,964.98 were approved for payment. Also, members discussed the anticipated budget for 2013, which totals $1 million.
Trustees heard suggestions from Logan County Engineer Scott Coleman and Assistant Superintendent Todd Bumgardner concerning road markers and changes in the near future with sign reflectivity.
The engineer’s office also recently conducted a traffic count on Lake Township Road 200 in anticipation of the planned bike trail from Urbana to Bellefontaine. A total of 4,279 vehicles were observed in a 24-hour period.
The count was also performed to determine potential rail crossing dangers, among them sight distance north and south, train traffic and obstacles to include brush and trees along the right-of-way. The rail line is used primarily for rail car storage.
As in previous years, members passed a fire protection resolution as in previous years for the benefit of residents outside the city limits of Bellefontaine.
Finally, trustees decided that no wage increases would occur in 2013.
