Brown faces racketeering charge

A Bellefontaine man with a drug arrest history dating to 2003 is now facing a racketeering charge after a Logan County grand jury handed up a 10-count indictment.

Keith L. Brown Jr., 33, of 170 McKeestown Road, Apt. B, has been charged with a first-degree felony count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity; three second-degree felony counts of trafficking in drugs; three second-degree felony counts of possession of drugs; two third-degree felony counts of tampering with evidence; and a fifth-degree felony count of possession of criminal tools.

In the past, he has been charged with possession of drugs including cocaine and heroin. The most recent case was filed in May and he entered a guilty plea to one fifth-degree felony count of possession of drugs.

Logan County Common Pleas Judge Mark S. O’Connor sentenced him to five years of community control.

He has served time in prison for past convictions. He also was at the center of a Jan. 10, 2008, home invasion in which Devonne Petaway and others barged into 313 S. Park St. demanding cash and drugs.

Mr. Petaway fired several shots at Mr. Brown as he ran from the home.

The shooter is currently serving a 25-year sentence.

Other indictments include:

• Jose Alverez Jr., 42, of 131 Mann St., West Mansfield: domestic violence, a third-degree felony;

• Amanda Thompson, 26, of 1032 Heritage Court: burglary, a third-degree felony;

• Stephen Coe, 22, of 716 N. Detroit St.: burglary, a third-degree felony, and possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony;

• Quinton Miller, 25, of 445 W. Lake St., Lakeview: abduction, a third-degree felony, and domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony;

• Jeremy R. Stevens, 33, of 7205 County Road 121, Ridgeway: two counts of burglary, third-degree felonies; two counts of misdemeanor theft; and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony;

• Trisha M. Zaar, 28, of Mt. Vernon: complicity to burglary, a third-degree felony;

• Brandy L. Lile, 29, of 2028 County Road 29: complicity to burglary, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanor receiving stolen property;

• Shawn B. Lile, 42, of 2028 County Road 29: complicity to burglary, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanor receiving stolen property;

• Nicholas George, 20, of 11165 State Route 366, Lakeview: breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony;

• Scottie McMillen, 20, of 512 N. Center St., Belle Center: breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony;

• Eric Johnston, 42, of 175 Hoonbeck St., Lakeview: breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony;

• Benjamin Jackson, 41, of 400 Lincoln Boulevard, Apt. 54, Russells Point: two counts of domestic violence, third-degree felonies; misdemeanor domestic violence; violating a protection order, a third-degree felony; intimidation of a victim, a third-degree felony; and menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony;

• Marvin Heminger, 62, of 866 Hilltop Road: rape, a first-degree felony; and seven counts of gross sexual imposition, third-degree felonies;

• Dwayne Hubbard, 25, of 116 1/2 N. Main St., Apt. B: domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony;

• Joseph Board, 19, at large: burglary, a third-degree felony, and possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; and

• Shawn Burkepile, 25, of 348 E. Sandusky Ave., Apt. 14: failure to comply with an order or signal of a peace officer, a fifth-degree felony.
