Bellefontaine High School’s Team Thailand received the Outstanding Resolution Award at the Ohio Model United Nations competition this week at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus.

Team Thailand members include Billy Houser, Keith Wisecup, Evie Belcher, Hannah Clayton, Mackayla Chambers, Jarrett Beck, Gunnar Buck and Scott Conover.
In addition, two other BHS teams had resolutions that advanced to the second level, and the school’s United Kingdom Team advanced to the final talent competition.
A total of four BHS teams competed among the 75 teams and 1,400 students at the contest.
As for individual honors, leadership awards went to Emily O’Connor and Billy Houser.
Four BHS students served as OMUN officers who were responsible for organizing and leading the entire weekend. Rohan Prasad was the secretary general, one of the top two positions in charge. Also, serving as council presidents were Kendall Pemberton and Madeline Houser, and Courtney Chervenak was council vice president.
For next year’s OMUN event, four BHS students were elected as officers, including Emily O’Connor as council vice president, Billy Houser and John Beach, council presidents; and Brooke Turner, vice president of the human rights council, one of the top officer positions to run the event.
