Longtime village official to retire
Belle Center’s two full-time employees will get a raise at the start of the year and a former councilman and fiscal officer for the past nine years will retire, members of village council learned at Tuesday’s meeting.
As part of the annual budget discussion, Fiscal Officer Bill McCormick, who had just finished announcing his retirement effective June 22, recommended that Water Superintendent John Linson and Street Superintendent Frank Harrod each be given a 30-cent-per-hour raise.
“If we can make contributions to outside organizations without pay increases to John and Frank, that would be wrong,” Mr. McCormick said, explaining that the pay increase and corresponding pension increases would cost about $1,500 per year.
