West Liberty resident killed in Champaign County crash

URBANA — A rural West Liberty man was killed in a Champaign County crash Monday evening when his pickup drove off State Route 29 and struck a tree, according to varioius published reports.

Jeffrey Dill, 48, was operating a westbound vehicle near State Route 296 northwest of Urbana about 7:25 p.m. His pickup drove off the road and continued into a field until it hit the tree and overturned.

Mr. Dill was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies of the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office and Urbana Fire and EMS crews were dispatched to the scene, along with the Champaign County Coroner’s Office.
