Former Bellefontaine resident Scott Shellhaas, second from right, president and chief operating officer of Thompson Creek Metals Company, and other officials of the mining company performed the closing ceremony Thursday at the New York Stock Exchange, in recognition of the firm’s fifth year of being publicly traded on the exchange.

Thompson Creek, with a corporate office in Denver, is the world’s leading producer of molybdenum, a metal used to harden steel. Mr. Shellhaas and his wife, Debbie, reside in Denver.
