West Liberty firefighter Steve Rabenstein suffered a shoulder injury in a previously reported barn fire Monday at 6822 W. Kanagy Road in northern Champaign County.

According to Macochee Joint Ambulance District officials, Mr. Rabenstein, 41, of Liberty Township, was injured when a wall of the barn collapsed and struck him.
He was treated at the scene by Macochee squad members, and was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Mr. Rabenstein has served for more than 20 years as a volunteer member of the West Liberty Fire Department, Macochee EMS, and the former West Liberty EMS.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the West Liberty Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Firefighters remained on the scene for about six hours following the call at 12:43 p.m. Additional assistance was received from the Tri-Valley Fire District, Northeast Champaign County Joint Fire District, and the Urbana Fire Department.
Damage to the barn and its contents was extensive. Three tractors, a feed grinder-mixer, hay baler and a quantity of lumber were all lost in the fire.
