Couple contends for national contest title

Voting under way for city native in Nivea ‘Kiss of the Year’ love story

Bellefontaine native Capt. Seth Butler of the U.S. Air Force and his wife, Allie, are among three finalist couples in Nivea’s “Kiss of the Year” contest.

They appeared on the Wendy Williams Show earlier this week, as reported in Wednesday’s Examiner.

The winning couple will receive an expenses-paid trip to New York City on New Year’s Eve, where they will join Mario Lopez and Courtney Mazza on the Nivea Kiss Stage in Times Square. In addition, the winners will receive a feature spread in US Weekly magazine.

Contest finalists were selected after sharing their love stories on Nivea’s Facebook page. A panel of celebrity and expert judges led by Mr. Lopez and Ms. Mazza then picked the top three couples.

Local residents can cast their vote for Capt. and Mrs. Butler through Dec. 16 at Voting is permitted once every 24 hours.

A son of Tony R. and Jo Ellen Butler of Bellefontaine, Capt. Butler is a 2000 Bellefontaine High School graduate. He met his wife when they were both students at The Ohio State University, his father reports.

The couple married about four years ago, and are currently stationed in Charleston, S.C.

Capt. Butler, a flight commander, recently returned home from service in Saudi Arabia and will be serving in Columbus, Miss., in the spring.

“They’ve spent most of their married lives apart, so being a part of this contest has been really exciting for Seth and Allie,” said Tony, noting that the couple was recently flown to New York for the taping of the TV show and were treated to a Broadway show.
