Career Center students place in state event

Students in Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Teaching Professions satellite program recently participated in the 2011 Future Educators Association Ohio Conference at Kent State University, where Leslie Watkins of West Liberty-Salem was elected president of the group.

Mickey Sandoval of Bellefontaine earned third place for poetry, Renee Carnes, Graham, placed fifth in lesson plan, Matt Faulder, Riverside, was in the top 10 for his multimedia contribution and Morgan Conley, Bellefontaine, placed in the top 10 for prepared speech.

Bethany Douglas and Patrick Nelson, both of Marysville, were recognized for their contribution to the children’s literature exhibition. Becky Smith, Marysville, competed in impromptu speech, while Adriam Thurman of Indian Lake and Morgan Conley competed in the recruitment poster competition.

Spencer Williams, Upper Scioto Valley, who recently was elected to the national position of central region vice president, presented a breakout session on FEA Today.

The Ohio Hi-Point Chapter earned the FEA Honor Chapter Award.

State officers Erica Ervin of Riverside and Ryley Mercer of Triad helped to plan and conduct the conference.
