Logan County Recorder Linda Hanson reported that at least one local property owner has been contacted by a company offering to obtain a copy of the property owner’s deed for a fee of $83 or an additional fee of $35 if not requested by a certain date.

Deeds are always publicly available at the recorder’s office for minimal fees of $2 per page if copied by recorder’s office personnel or 25 cents a page if copied by the person requesting the copy, Mrs. Hanson said.
She also noted that once a deed is filed with the recorder’s office, it is a permanent record of property ownership and it makes no difference whether the property owner has a copy of the deed in his or her possession.
