UPDATE: 2 teens transported in Belle Center crash

Two teenagers were transported to area hospitals following a one-vehicle crash Friday morning on Charles Street north of Center Street in Belle Center.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report that Derek A. Stephens, 18, of Belle Center, was operating a northbound car about 7:40 a.m. when he drove off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
His passenger, Joe L. Blanton, 18, of Belle Center, was transported by MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for incapacitating injuries.
The driver was transported by BMRT squad to Lima Memorial Health Systems for possible injuries.
The vehicle sustained severe damage.
Also assisting at the scene were personnel with the BMRT squad, Huntsville squad and Richland Township Fire Department.
Deputies continue to investigate this crash.
