The local team competed against students from 43 other states and finished 11th. Each member also received a gold rating.
Students had to evaluate and place cows, and then provide reasons for their placings.
Next, participants evaluated herd records and gave their recommendations, and then had to take a test about dairy cows.
The competition concluded with a team event, where members were given a scenario and then had to provide their dairy herd recommendations to a farmer based upon the strategic planning method that evaluates strengths, weaknesses/limitations, opportunities and threats.
Ray Jackson assisted the team in their preparation for the national competition.
