With only a few days to go before the biggest show of the year, Bellefontaine High School marching band members are putting the final touches on what they hope will be a superior effort in state competition.

Under the direction of Joe Antram, the band performs 1968 — A Year of Change on Sunday at the Ohio Music Education Association State Band Finals at University of Dayton’s Welcome Stadium.
The marching Chieftain band is a staple at state competition, but hasn’t earned the highest rating offered by judges in some time.
“In fact, I can’t quite remember the last time we earned a superior rating,” Mr. Antram said. “We’ve been ‘excellent’ the last several years in a row, and that’s great, but we’d really like to get over the top this year.”
