Teen drug abuse is declining nationwide, but a recent Monitoring the Future report shows it is up in Logan County.
There has been a 50 percent increase in heroin use, and a 45 percent increase in cocaine use among the county’s high school students within a two-year period, based on the results of the Search Institute Survey Profiles of Student Life: Attitudes and Behaviors.
As a response, the Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting Operation Street Smart for parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers and professionals starting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Bellefontaine High School Auditorium.
