A team of Bellefontaine High School juniors Jordan Fox, Nick Heydinger, Corey McLaughlin and Olivia Martin won first place at the Math Shoot-Out Oct. 8 hosted by Ohio Northern University.

They competed against students from 17 different schools from Northwest Ohio.
During the competition, students spent the morning working together to solve challenging math problems.
Then during the afternoon, the teams moved to the competition floor, where they were given questions and students took turns explaining their answers.
After several close rounds, the Bellefontaine team was named the top winners and received the traveling first-place trophy.
