Work could begin before the end of the year on a transportation museum after the Logan County Historical Society received bids that came in well within budget.
The low bid, $2.64 million, was submitted by Robertson Construction Services Inc. of Heath, project architect and historical society board member Karen Beasley said.
Historical society members began discussing the idea of creating a transportation-themed museum in about 2004, and after several years of planning, submitted a formal request to the Ohio Department of Transportation for a grant. They learned they received a grant to pay 80 percent of the $3 million project cost and the funds were released in July.
Editor's Note: The grant will pay 80 percent of the project cost, a corrected percentage from the number that appeared in print on Wednesday.
