City’s big parking lot getting a facelift

Work to improve Bellefontaine’s largest municipal parking lot has been under way in bits and pieces for months, but the time has arrived for a concerted effort to get the lot finished before winter.

“It’s gonna have to pick up pretty quick,” said Service-Safety Director James Holycross. “We need the weather to cooperate.”

The windstorm June 29 added unexpected work for the city Street Department which is providing most of the manpower for the project.

Crews were diverted from the parking lot work to help clear up debris throughout the city.

Now available, street workers are busy with drainage and other preparation work.
