Brian Chamberlain, 34, of 215 E. Main St., Belle Center, was charged Monday with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after a two-vehicle crash.

He also was cited for failing to stop after a crash, driving under suspension and failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report he was northbound in the 700 block of north Main Street around 8:10 p.m. when his pickup truck hit the rear of a pickup operated by Michael Little of Bellefontaine.

Mr. Chamberlain drove off northbound, but witnesses were able to record his license plate.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office located him at his home and reported the pickup had sustained front end damage and the motorist appeared to be intoxicated.

He was taken into custody and turned over to police.

Field sobriety tests indicated intoxication and a breath alcohol content test showed a level of 0.168.

Officers noted in their reports the defendant has four prior drunk driving convictions since 1999.

He was released to his wife.
