Consensual sex with a girl under the age of 16 netted a defendant local jail time Monday in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
William Cantrell Jr., 22, of 17409 County Road 85, Belle Center, was sentenced to 30 days in the Logan County Jail and also must serve two years’ community control and pay a $500 fine and court costs for a first-degree misdemeanor charge of contributing to the unruliness of a minor.
The charge may have never even come about were it not for the defendant’s honest response during a pre-employment polygraph test, defense attorney Steve Fansler said.
Mr. Cantrell had passed physical training and written exam portions of the application process to become a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, defense counsel noted, and during a lie detector test administered to all applicants, was asked if he’d ever had intercourse with any person under the age of 16.
