Serious injury crash in Union County sends motorcyclist to hospital

MARYSVILLE — Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash that occurred about 2:05 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. Route 36 and Collins Avenue in Union County.

 

Troopers report Derek R. Lowe, 30, of Richwood, was traveling southwest on a motorcycle on U.S. 36 and attempted to make a left turn onto Collins Avenue when his vehicle collided with a northeast-bound tractor-trailer.

A two-vehicle serious injury crash Wedneday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Route 36 and Collins Avenue on the west side of Marysville sent a motorcyclist to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Mr. Lowe was transported by EMS to Memorial Hospital of Union County for life-threatening injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver, Paul Engel, 68, of Amherst, was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Assisting at the scene was Union County Sheriff’s deputies, Marysville Fire Department and the patrol’s crash reconstruction unit.

The crash remains under investigation.
