Ongoing budget constraints have forced Zanesfield Village Council members to sacrifice both the services they can offer village residents as well as their own pay increases.
Council passed on second reading ordinances that rescind previously guaranteed pay raises for members of council and the mayor.
Additionally, council announced during its meeting the village-sponsored spring cleanup, including brush pickup, will be canceled this year because of insufficient funds.
Council meets again Monday, April 4.
The Russells Point Village Council began its meeting Monday prepared to open bids to maintain the 250,000 gallon water tower, but with no bidders, council opted to look at maintenance programs from the current contractors.
