Amelia Carter has always performed at a high level during her prep career at Riverside. A three-sport standout, the senior is preparing to take her talents to the Division I college level.

Carter signed her letter of intent Monday to compete on the track and field team at the University of Cincinnati.

“I had the goal of playing a sport in college when I started high school,” said Carter. “But I didn’t see myself at the Division I level. It was a shock that I have this opportunity, but it’s a good feeling, too.

“I couldn’t have done this without my coaches and parents. My dad has really helped me over the years in making me better.”

A powerful hitter on the volleyball team and a dominant presence on the basketball court, Carter also has excelled at track and field. She has placed twice in the discus at the Division III state tournament and is a three-time state qualifier. Carter was also a state qualifier in the shot put last spring.
