| Student fights with a ‘vengeance’ for spelling bee win |

Indian Lake Middle School seventh-grader Dustin Roby came back with a “vengeance” Tuesday evening during the 17th round of the Logan County Spelling Bee to win the competition in the Riverside Local Schools’ auditeria.
The event featured eight student competitors in grades 5-8 who made first and second place finishes during their respective school-wide spelling bees at Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake, Riverside and Bellefontaine schools. Beginning with round eight, only the top three pupils were left in the spelling match — Bellefontaine seventh-grader Mitchell Hudson, Benjamin Logan fifth-grader Drew Ryan-Wasson and Dustin. They battled it out by correctly spelling such words as “representative,” “essential” and “ardent” provided by pronouncer Heidi Reser, Logan County Educational Service Center special projects coordinator. Judges Joyce Roberts, Logan County ESC superintendent, and Debbie Hughes, Riverside Family-School Partnership chairperson, checked out student spellings throughout the event hosted by the ESC.
