Four quarters wasn’t enough to decide a winner between Riverside and visiting Upper Scioto Valley on Thursday.

The Pirates fought tooth and nail for four quarters and into overtime to emerge with a 61-60 victory in a pivotal battle of Northwest Central Conference squads.

The victory was crucial to Riverside as it kept them at the top of the NWCC standings with Fairbanks. Both teams are 3-0 in league play. The Pirates are 6-5 overall.

“One of our goals is to win the NWCC,” said Riverside head coach Dean Sanford. “There were certain games we had to win in order to do that. We beat Waynesfield-Goshen earlier this year and now USV so our girls are winning the games we knew we had to win.”
