Triad used a big second-quarter effort to beat visiting Riverside 60-48 on Tuesday in a boys non-league matchup. The win helped the Cardinals break a four-game losing streak. They improve to 3-7 on the season, while the Pirates also are now 3-7. The local matchup was a family affair as it featured two brothers facing each other. John Millice is head coach of the Cardinals and Nathan Millice is the head coach of the Pirates. “It’s always nice to play my little brother,” said Riverside’s Nathan Millice. “Tonight his team was the better team. Triad played better defense and they were more physical than we were. “We had good looks, but just couldn’t capitalize on them. I thought Kyle Baughman had a real strong game for us, too.” Riverside held a one-point lead after the first quarter (16-15), but Triad went on to outscore the Pirates 16-9 in the second period to take a 31-25 lead at halftime. For the full story and game stats, pick up a copy of Wednesday's Bellefontaine Examiner.
