John Wayne Randall, 50, of Urbana, died of non-small cell lung cancer at 9:24 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, in his residence.
He was born in Urbana on Dec. 16, 1958, a son of Betty Petty Randall, who survives, and the late Jack Randall. He also was preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” Randall; and close cousin, Wayne “Hotdog” Randall.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sherrie Zirkle Randall, whom he married Sept. 12, 1981; daughter, Zarah Randall of Urbana; son, Zach (Jenn) Randall of Urbana; a three-week-old grandson, Colton; a sister, Jackie (Keith) Wynn of Woodstock; brother, Donald (Sue) Randall of Urbana; and sister-in-law, Rita Randall of Urbana.
A 1977 graduate of Urbana High School, he worked at Honda of America for almost 26 years and had perfect attendance.
An avid behind-the-scenes supporter of 4-H and an outdoorsman, he enjoyed farming and was a lover of nature, always willing to help others and had an ornery sense of humor. He also was instrumental in taking care of nature, believing that nature will take care of you.
Honoring John’s wishes, cremation will take place. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at The Olde Barn, 1148 State Route 55, Urbana, where a memorial service is at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Nancy Hardin officiating. Casual farm attire requested, come as you are.
