Ridgemont’s girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday with a 79-18 pasting over visiting Horizon Science Academy in non-league action.

Senior Paige Guenther was a force for Ridgemont (1-2), scoring a game-high 38 points and leading her team with 20 rebounds and 10 steals.

The Gophers jumped out to a 22-5 lead in the first quarter and outscored Horizon 17-9 in the second period. That gave Ridgemont a 39-14 halftime lead.

The second half saw Ridgemont outscore the Hawks 40-4.
