Poll workers in Bellefontaine’s Fourth Ward B precinct discovered Tuesday that 51 early voters were not given a chance initially to vote on local liquor options for Tumbleweed and LaPalma Mexican restaurants. Logan County Board of Election Deputy Directors Diane Gamble and Lucinda Holycross said this morning the board decided to make personal contacts with the affected voters. They attempted to reach the voters first by phone and then made personal visits to their homes. Those who were not contacted received a flier on their doors informing them of the error and encouraging them to return to fill out the second page before polls closed. Board members completed their efforts by noontime. A total of 25 responded and their votes were included in the unofficial totals. The precinct was one of a handful in the county to receive a two-page ballot. The board’s actions to correct the oversight were reported to the Ohio Secretary of State’s office. Tumbleweed’s issue passed 147 to 138 while LaPalma’s went down 149 to 136.
