Riverside’s football team ended the season on a winning note Friday as the Pirates won their fifth-straight game with a 28-16 victory over visiting Lima Perry in a Northwest Central Conference contest.

The Pirates finish the season 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the NWCC. The Commodores end the year 4-6, 3-4.

After starting the season 1-4, Riverside head coach T.R. Doty was pleased with how his team didn’t give up.

“I told the guys this isn’t the kind of season we wanted in terms of wins,” said Doty. “But we fought back and won our fifth straight game and that says something about these kids.

“This is something we want to build off of and continue to keep the winning streak going into next season. I was also glad to see our seniors go out on top.”
