Honoring Dr. King’s legacy

Phil Romine of Bellefontaine, left, hands a bag full of non-perishable food items Monday to volunteer Penny Butts of West Liberty as a contribution to HandsOn West Central Ohio’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. service day food drive at Kroger, 2129 S. Main St. A total of 285 items were collected for Our Daily Bread through the effort, which also included five other drop-off points throughout the county — The Styling Co., Walgreens in Bellefontaine, the Hilliker YMCA, Rite Aid in Russells Point and Downtown Discount Grocery in Lakeview. A total of 82 volunteers, many of whom included families, assisted with the food drive, agency officials report. (EXAMINER PHOTO | MANDY HOCHSTEDLER)
