Tom Moreland, a manufacturing engineer from Daido Metal, and his business partner Steve Roberts have opened a new machine shop in Bellefontaine.
Located at 877 County Road 11, DMG Tool & Die LLC can help companies and individuals with any custom machining or repair work.
DMG’s capabilities include computer numerical controlled and manual milling and turning, grinding and welding. The majority of their experience is in the automotive industry where the two supported just-in-time mass production machining of engine bearings, holding tolerances as close 3 microns (0.0001 inch).
They will produce precision parts on a tight delivery schedule.
The company also will offer computer-aided design services including drawings, three-dimensional models and renderings.
They are currently seeking opportunities to bid on projects. They also are available to discuss specific needs for custom machining.

For the partners, the new venture comes after the closure of Daido Metal America by its parent company, Daido Japan.
All production has ceased at the facility and currently there are about 50 employees left in the plant. In October, the facility will become a warehouse distribution center for Daido Metal USA and employ about 15 people.
