The two-day jury trial of Terry Jones, charged with rape, began this morning in Bellefontaine City Council Chambers.
Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark S. O’Connor said today the city building had not been used for a court proceeding since Bellefontaine Municipal Court moved to its current location at 226 W. Columbus Avenue in the early 1990s.
The structural damage to the 142-year-old Logan County Courthouse’s clock tower by wind June 29 made the facility uninhabitable and all courthouse offices have moved elsewhere.
Start of the trial was delayed about 15 minutes after the judge ordered bailiffs to rearrange counsel tables and add more chairs to the makeshift jury box.
