Three local track and field teams competed Friday at the Waynesfield-Goshen Tiger Invitational, with Triad’s boys and Riverside’s girls coming away with third-place finishes.

Host W-Goshen coasted to the win in the boys meet with 188.5 points. Parkway was second (114) and Triad was third (87). Riverside’s boys team was fourth with 56 points and Ridgemont finished sixth with 25.

W-Goshen also won the girls meet with 145 points and Parkway was second with 138. The Pirates took third with 81 points, Ridgemont was fourth with 64 and Triad was fifth with 37 points.

For Triad’s boys, Tyler Harper led the way with two first-place finishes. Harper won the high jump (5-10) and the long jump (19-6 3/4). Dustin Howell also finished first in the 110 hurdles (17.1).

Coming in third for Triad were Josh Keatley in the 100 (11.7), Howell in the 300 hurdles (45.8), Aaron Yoe in the long jump (18-7), John Wallace in the 3200 (12:03.1), the 3200 relay (10:07.1), the 800 relay (1:39.5) and the 400 relay (47.6).

For Riverside, second-place finishes came from Chad Small in the shot put (45-4 1/4), Richie Ames in the high jump (5-8) and the 800 relay (1:39.5).

Third-place efforts for the Pirates included Small in the discus (128-9), Kyle Baughman in the high jump (5-8) and Daniel McCully in the 400 (57.3).

Ridgemont received fourthplace finishes from the 1600 relay team of Shawn Smith, Jake McFadden, Justin Leonard and Jordan Leonard (3:53.3), the 3200 relay of Matt Scharf, Logan Brown, Kolton Tallman and Justin Leonard (11:07.9), Shane Moore in the discus (121-7) and Aaron Scott in the pole vault (9-6).

Riverside’s girls received individual championships from Amelia Carter in the discus (116-7), Heather Core in the 400 (1:04.3) and Katie King in the 800 (2:32.9). Carter also was second in the shot put (36-5 1/2).

Taking third for the Pirates were the 800 relay (2:03.5), King in the 400 (1:04.5) and the pole vault (8-6) and Chelsie Hickey in the high jump (4-8).

Malana Ledley anchored Ridgemont with four thirdplace finishes. Ledley was third in the 100 hurdles (17.4) and the 300 hurdles (50.5). She was also on the third-place 1600 relay (4:41.06) and 400 relay (53.94) teams. The 1600 relay with Taylor Gaukin, Paige Guenther and Samantha Smith, while the 400 relay was made up of Cierra James, Gaukin, Smith and Ledley.

Also taking third were Guenther in the long jump (15- 9 3/4) and the 3200 relay of Liz Weyant, Megan Grimes, Lena Shyryayeva and Tori Brown (12:31.6).

Bobbi Custer fueled Triad’s girls by winning the 1600 (6:04.4) and the 3200 (13:49.4). Custer was also third in the 800 (2:44.6). Rebecca Levings added a second- place effort in the 3200 (14:12.5).

Chiefs compete at Piqua Invitational

Bellefontaine’s boys and girls track and field teams both competed at the Piqua Invitational Saturday. The Chieftain boys finished fifth out of 13 teams with 63 points and the BHS girls were sixth with 65 points.

Canal Winchester won the boys meet with 101 points over Sidney, which was second with 90. Marysville (84) and Columbus St. Francis DeSales (76) rounded out the top four.

The girls meet saw Marysville take first with 82 points, edging Franklin Heights (81.5). Canal Winchester was third (80) and Toledo Rogers was fourth (66.6).

Aaron Dunn led the Bellefontaine boys with a first-place finish in the 300 hurdles (40.41), while second-place efforts came from Zach Vermillion in the shot put (51-2 1/2) and Mica Hatcher in the 1600 (4:40.1).

Taking third were Eric Mitchell in the shot put (45-9 1/4) and Blake Price in the 1600 (4:41.7) and fourthplace finishes consisted of Dunn in the long jump (19-0 1/4) and Price in the 3200 (10:52.9).

Mitchell was also fifth in the discus (119-5) and Hatcher was fifth in the 800 (2:09.1), while the 400 relay of Mikhail Moore, Brandon Oglesbee, Dunn and Matt Brunner were sixth (45.61).

The BHS girls team was powered by Sarah Bechtel, who won the pole vault (10-0), was second in the 100 hurdles (16.1), fifth in the 300 hurdles (50.23) and was part of the third-place 400 relay team (54.23).

Also on the 400 relay team were Taileigh Ward, Haley McCloud and Dominique Brown.

Kaileigh Bible was second in the pole vault (9-6), Ward was third in the long jump (15-1 1/4), Brown was fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.9) and Caitlin Tassell was fifth in the pole vault (8-0).

Adding sixth-place efforts were Cassie Campbell in the discus (94-8) and the 1600 relay of Bible, Danika Stahler, Ericka Myers and Tawny Turner (4:38).
