Riverside’s baseball team used a steady hitting attack to down visiting Botkins for a 9-3 win Friday in non-league action. The Pirates led 8-0 after four innings and held on the rest of the way for the win. Kyle Ehresmann anchored the Pirates going 2-4 with a two-run home run and three RBI. Also for RHS, Mike Seeling went 3-4 with two RBI and Avery Smith was 2- 4 with a double. Riverside then played two games Saturday in a tournament at Houston. The Pirates fell to Franklin-Monroe 14-2 in five innings and they then bounced back to beat Houston 14-4 in six innings. In the loss to Franklin-Monroe, Blaine Dixon had a double to lead the Pirates. T he Pirates collected 16 hits in the win over Houston. Austin Daniels was 4-4 with a three-run home run and five RBI to pace the hitting effort. Smith was 2-4 with a double and three RBI and Ehresmann was 2-5 with a double for the Pirates. Garrett Fairchild earned the win on the mound. RIVERSIDE 9, BOTKINS 3 FRANKLIN-MONROE 14, RIVERSIDE 2 (FIVE INNINGS) RIVERSIDE 14, HOUSTON 4 (SIX INNINGS) Lehman edges Tigers Host Sidney Lehman defeated West Liberty-Salem 9-7 in a non-league baseball game Saturday. The Tigers are now 10-4 on the season. Erik Thomas went 2-4 with a double and Brock Bahan was 2-3 with a double to pace the Tigers at the plate. Ryan Ropp added two hits and Tyler Cordell chipped in a double. The Tigers return to action today at home against Mechanicsburg. LEHMAN 9, WL-SALEM 7 Hilliard Davidson upends Chiefs Visiting Hilliard Davidson rallied for a 10-5 win over Bellefontaine on Saturday in a non-league baseball game. With the loss, the Chiefs fall to 14-3 on the season. Davidson trailed 5-2 after three innings, but scored five runs in the fourth inning and held the lead for good. “We were able to get up early, but we allowed them to extend the inning there in the fourth and things got away from us a little,” said Bellefontaine head coach Mark Brunswick. “For the most part, I thought we swung the bats well and played a good team pretty even.” Zach Mosbarger went 2-4 with a double and Josh Kauffman was 2-4 to lead the Chiefs at the plate. T.J. Garman and Adam Skelly each added doubles for Bellefontaine. The Chiefs return to action today at Springfield Shawnee. HILLIARD DAVIDSON 10, BELLEFONTAINE 5 Triad blanks Southeastern T.J. Teets hurled a two-hit shutout to lead host Triad to a 6-0 win over Southeastern on Saturday in an Ohio Heritage Conference back game. Teets struck out 13 batters in getting the win. Offensively for the Cardinals, Tyler Wilson had a double and three RBI, Kaleb Deam had two RBI and Nate Marenburg had a double. The Cardinals host Greeneview today. TRIAD 6, SOUTHEASTERN 0 Gophers lose pair Host Ridgemont lost to Elgin 14-4 and 24-1 in five innings Saturday in a doubleheader. In the opener, Elgin was powered by a nine-run fifth inning. Sean Shonkwiler and Reese Overly each went 2-4 to lead the Gophers’ hitting attack in the first game. In game two, Overly had two hits to lead the Gophers. Ridgemont hosts Riverside today.
