Ridgemont’s boys and girls track and field teams swept their own tri-meet Thursday against Marion Catholic and Madison Christian.

The Gopher girls dominated the competition with 113 points. Marion Catholic was a distant second with 27 points and Madison Christian was third with 14. The Ridgemont boys beat Marion Catholic 85-72 to claim first, while Madison Christian was third with nine points.

The Gophers’ girls 400 relay of Malana Ledley, Cierra James, Taylor Gaukin and Samantha Smith highlighted the event by taking first and setting a new stadium record of 54.06.

Ledley and Smith both were big point scorers for the Gopher girls as they each had four first-place finishes. In addition to the 400 relay win, Ledley also won the 110 hurdles (17.4) and the 300 hurdles (51.5), while Smith won the long jump (14-0) and the 400 (1:09). Both were also on the winning 1600 relay (4:45) along with Taylor Gaukin and Elizabeth Weyant.

James took first in the 100 (13.6) and the 200 (29.2) and was second in the 100 hurdles (18.8). Other first-place finishes came from Samantha Keckler in the discus (78-5), Darian McGue in the shot put (24-11 1/2), Lena Shyryayeva in the high jump (4-2), Weyant in the pole vault (6-0) and the 800 (6:54), Megan Grimes in the 1600 (6:54), the 3200 relay of Weyant, Shyryayeva, Grimes and Tori Brown (12:26).

The Ridgemont boys were anchored by Justin Leonard who won the high jump (5-0), the 300 hurdles (46.1) and the 1600 (5:31) and took second in the 800 (2:25). Also taking first were Shane Moore in the discus (123-8), Jake McFadden in the long jump (17-4), Caleb Scott in the pole vault (10-0) and the 400 relay of Shawn Smith, Reese Overly, McFadden and Nathaniel Davis (50.9).

Ridgemont competes Friday at the Waynesfield-Goshen Invitational.
