3 treated for minor injuries in Amish trailer, SUV crash


Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report three people were treated for minor injuries Saturday evening at the scene of a crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a horse-drawn Amish flatbed trailer.

Nancy S. Conley, 49, of Quincy, reportedly was operating the southbound sport utility vehicle on State Route 235 just north of State Route 47 about 7 p.m. Her SUV struck the rear of the horse-drawn trailer operated by Menno Wagler, 60, of DeGraff, and then the SUV drove off the side of the road.

Ms. Conley, Mr. Wagler and Mr. Wagler’s passenger, Benjamin Wagler, 17, of DeGraff, each was treated at the scene by Riverside EMS personnel. No one was transported.

Two horses pulling the trailer also sustained minor injuries.

Damage was heavy to the trailer and the SUV. Ms. Conley was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
