Chiefs’ Rose throws personal best, wins regional shot crown

The Bellefontaine standout captured a Division I regional title in the shot put Friday at the Dayton regional track and field meet, delivered a new career-best of 54-11 1/2.

The top four placers in each event advanced to the Division I state track and field meet next week in Columbus.

“It’s an awesome feeling right now,” said Rose. “I went in and got my head right and concentrated. I found a way to get to state and being able to win a regional title in Division I means a lot.”

“It’s an amazing accomplishment,” said BHS throws coach Jim Robinson of Rose’s Division I regional title. “It’s a tremendous achievement to be able to do that with the big boys in Division I.
