DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A career prostitute whose name became associated with a state law making it a felony to solicit sex while HIV-positive has been sentenced to prison again.
Vickie West's prostitution arrests after testing positive for HIV helped spur Ohio lawmakers to pass the legislation in the 1990s.
The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/1jt5DwP ) reports that a judge in Dayton sentenced the 54-year-old West to 18 months in prison on Tuesday. She had pleaded guilty to engaging in soliciting after a positive HIV test.
She recently finished serving a four-year prison sentence after being convicted of the same two charges she was indicted for this time. She's been arrested nearly 50 times since 1984.
On Tuesday she told the judge that "I don't want to be a bad girl no more."
