URBANA — An Urbana man has been charged with murder in the death of his father, whose body was found Sunday night inside their 536 S. Kenton St., Urbana, home.
Christopher L. Myers, 38, was charged with the murder of 65-year-old Jerald L. Myers following the completion of a forensic autopsy by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.
Police responded to the home about 8:55 p.m. and found the elder Myers dead of "obvious serious injuries."
The suspect, initially, was arrested and lodged in the Tri-County Regional Jail Sunday for “actions he took against his brother,” Brian Myers, of 317 W. Reynolds St., Urbana, during the discovery of the homicide, Chief Matt Lingrell said in a release.
Two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault have been filed against the suspect in addition to charges of felonious assault and felony domestic violence.
Residents of the Kenton Street home and others who came there after the body was discovered were also interviewed. Police are asking anyone with additional information about the crime to contact (937) 652-4350.
