Raiders’ Collins, Pirates’ Bollinger collect top Miami Valley honors

Benjamin Logan’s Zane Collins and Riverside’s Dalton Bollinger were named the player of the year in their respective divisions to headline the release of the Miami Valley all-area baseball teams.

The squads were voted on by members of the Miami Valley Baseball Coaches Association.

An outfielder and pitcher, Collins was selected as the top player for the Division II squad.

A junior, Collins was outstanding both at the plate and on the mound this spring.

The hard-throwing lefty went 9-2 with a 0.97 ERA. He struck out 120 batters in 72 innings of work.

At the plate, Collins batted .463 with 11 doubles and a Central Buckeye Conference-best 32 RBI.

Bollinger capped a brilliant four-year career at Riverside by earning player of the year accolades for the Division IV all-Miami Valley squad.
