A big first-inning burst helped send Triad’s baseball team to a 12-1 win in five innings over Houston on Thursday in a Division IV sectional semifinal contest.
The fourth-seeded Cardinals improve to 20-7 and face Ft. Loramie on Wednesday in Sidney for the sectional championship.
Triad’s bats were red hot in the first inning as the Cardinals rolled up 11 runs.
Houston scored its only run of the game in the top of the fourth inning to trail 11-1.
The Cardinals added a run in the bottom of the fifth to lock up the victory.
