Scott D. Phillips was found guilty of one misdemeanor count of domestic violence after a
Logan County Common Pleas jury of seven women and five men returned verdicts around 1:40 p.m. today.
The 37-year-old former lawman and convicted kidnapper was found not guilty of felonious assault and abduction.
A charge of resisting arrest was dropped after Logan County Common Pleas Judge Mark S. O’Connor ruled prosecutors failed to present evidence of the crime.
Defense attorney Daniel J. Bennett was pleased with the outcome.
“I think it shows the people of Logan County they still can get a fair trial,” he said.
