Russells Point Village Council in a regular meeting Monday received updates on its efforts to remove failing structures and procure Clean Ohio grant funding.
The second round of the Moving Ohio Forward program, which provides funds to local municipalities to help pay to remove old and dilapidated houses, gets under way this summer, and a total of six structures are to be taken down, Mayor Robin Reames said.
Russells Point didn’t have any houses torn down last year during the initial wave of Moving Ohio Forward funding.
A grant proposal for matching funds through a Clean Ohio grant was submitted April 24, and council expects a response from the state by June 20. Phase III of this project includes a two-mile walking trail and potential water access, according to plans.
