Heather Hillery has been named as operations manager in charge of the Top of Ohio Pet Shelter.
Ms. Hillery, who was hired recently as the shelter’s rescue specialist, will now be in charge of the kennel operations and kennel staff. She has background experience in kennel management and is a 2003 graduate of Robin Curley’s animal management class at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, interim director and board member Gail Friend wrote in a prepared statement.
The promotion comes amid changes in the leadership at Logan County’s pet shelter that resulted in former executive director Lori Plummer’s resignation in late March.
During a public meeting April 21 and the annual membership meeting April 25, Steffen Baldwin of the Animal Cruelty Taskforce of Ohio addressed needed policy changes and the shelter board of directors said it will attempt to increase membership in advance of a June meeting to reorganize the board.
