Witness saves child after northeast Ohio crash

CANTON, Ohio (AP) — A man who witnessed a car going off a northeast Ohio highway and into a creek says he scrambled over an embankment and cut a child out of a car seat.

Bruno Gregg tells WEWS-TV (http://bit.ly/1iCXv22 ) that he saw the car go off a bridge on Interstate 77 in Canton and into a creek 100 feet below just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He said he immediately stopped, went down the embankment and got the baby out. Another child and her mother were rescued by Canton police officers and firefighters.

The crash killed 24-year-old Paul Guthrie of Dennison. Fifteen-year-old Emelyn Guthrie was in stable condition, and her younger sister Gabriella, who was in the car seat, was critical. The 26-year-old mother, Kymberlie Guthrie, was also in critical condition.
