Bellefontaine netters can’t get on track against Urbana


Bellefontaine’s boys tennis team could not do any damage against host Urbana on Tuesday as the host Hillclimbers prevailed 5-0 in a Central Buckeye Conference match.

The Chiefs are now 1-9 on the season.

Bellefontaine’s Tyler Frantz was defeated by Kevin Thiel 6-3, 6-2 at first singles, Adam Verbsky lost to Urbana’s Barnabi Ofori 6-0, 6-0 at second singles and the Chiefs’ Isaiah Brady fell 6-0, 6-0 to Jacob Circle at third singles.

The Chiefs’ first doubles team of Max Wilcoxon and Mason Bailey lost to Andrew Fansler and McClain Eggleston 6-0, 6-0, while Bellefontaine’s second doubles team of Min Lin and Dean Smith lost to Nick Shank and Langston Kitchen 6-0, 6-0.

In junior varsity doubles action, Bellefontaine’s Alex German and Derek Markley lost to Austin Fame and Gregg Coffee 8-1 and Bellefontaine’s Josh Kruetzter and Marshall Verbsky were defeated 8-3 by Nick Pettit and Daniel Evilsizor.

Bellefontaine’s Michael Coakley lost a reserve singles match 8-0.
