Chieftain girls win Waynesfield-Goshen Invitational


Bellefontaine’s girls track and field team showcased its talent by winning the 12-team Waynesfield-Goshen Tiger Invitational on Friday night.

The Chieftain girls claimed the top spot with 135.75 points. Carey earned runner-up with 108.25 points, Benjamin Logan was third with 90 points and host W-Goshen took fourth with 81.75 points.

Allen East grabbed fifth with 81.75 points, Indian Lake finished sixth with 52 points, Riverside was seventh with 37 points and Triad was 12th with 20.5 points.

W-Goshen won the boys meet with 152 points, while the Raiders came in second with 118.5 points. The Chieftains were third with 94 points and the Lakers took fourth with 84.5 points. The Cardinals finished 10th with 17 points.

“We scored in every event, while only winning two events,” said BHS head coach Ben Davis. “It was a total team effort for our girls program. They did a tremendous job.
